Synopsis
Paree: An Unsolved Mystery is a 2026 Indian Odia-language drama mystery film directed by Tripati Kumar Sahu and produced by Sanjay Mohanty . The film explores themes of love, social pressure, loss, and moral accountability through the story of a rural schoolteacher whose life is shattered by an unexplained tragedy. It was released theatrically on 30 January 2026 and received a UA16+ certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Guru Pangi is a dedicated schoolteacher living in a remote village, admired for his compassion, humility, and unwavering commitment to his community. He is deeply in love with Puja, but their relationship faces resistance from her family, who disregard her wishes and arrange her marriage elsewhere. On the day of her wedding, Guru and Puja elope, choosing personal freedom over social conformity. The couple builds a modest life together, and a year later, they welcome a daughter into their family. Their happiness, however, is short-lived. Under unexplained and troubling circumstances, their infant daughter dies. What initially appears to be a tragic accident gradually reveals unsettling inconsistencies. As suspicion, grief, and unanswered questions mount, the narrative unfolds as an investigation into the child’s death probing whether it was fate, negligence, or a deliberate act. The film progresses through emotional and moral inquiry, examining responsibility, truth, and the hidden darkness within seemingly ordinary lives.
