Sanjay Mishra was born on October 6, 1963, in Darbhanga, Bihar, into a middle-class family. His father, Shambhu Nath Mishra, was a government employee at the Press Information Bureau. Sanjay spent much of his childhood in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, surrounded by rich cultural arts, theatre, and music.
